In the school Deepika played badminton and like her father, she too was quite successful at it. Deepika reached at the state level in badminton but did not pursue the game to the national level because she had cast her eyes on the showbiz by then. This young and charming girl easily got through modeling and endorsed some famous brand such as Liril soap, Limca, Close-up toothpaste and Kingfisher etc. She also promoted international cosmetic giant Maybelline. The pretty girl svelte model won many prestigious awards for her modeling style. Deepika was chosen the ‘Model of the Year’ by Kingfisher at its Fashion Awards and also the Female Model of the Year by Kingfisher Company at its Fashion Awards. She was further awarded the ‘Female Model of the Year’ award for the commercial assignments category and ‘Fresh Face of the Year’ at Idea Zee Fashion F Awards.

Deepika Padukone couldn’t stay away from Bollywood for long. She made a foray on the silver screen with a Kannada film “Aishwarya” in 2006 in which she starred opposite to a Kannada hero, Upendra. The following year Deepika bagged three Bollywood films- “Om Shanti Om”, “Pirate” and “Delhi 6”. She was also seen in a music video called “Aap Ka Suroor” by Himesh Reshammiya.

In her movie “Om Shanti Om” Deepika starred opposite to the king of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan. The film got released this year (2007) and turned out to be a big hit among the young as well as the old.

It is not to forget that the 21 year old charming lady made her first runway appearance in 2003 when she was just17 years old. Deepika has also done a big partnership with the Jewel of India, a yearly exhibition for jewelry lovers. As of now, Deepika has started receiving international contracts and is going places with her immense hard work and potential in the field of modeling as well as acting.
